Scholarship Information

The Traffic Club of Philadelphia is pleased to sponsor and administer a variety of scholarships for higher education. These scholarships recognize outstanding scholastic achievement, encourage students to pursue careers in transportation, and honor Traffic Club members and others who have made invaluable contributions to their profession and the Delaware Valley.

The scholarship awards offered through The Traffic Club of Philadelphia are:

These scholarships are available on a competitive basis each year. Applicants must adhere to the prescribed application process which varies for each scholarship. Students are encouraged to apply for all of the scholarships, and may do so more than once. However, generally speaking, a student may not be awarded an individual scharship (e.g. The Traffic Club of Philadelphia Scholarship) more than once.

 


The Traffic Club of Philadelphia Scholarships:

The Traffic Club of Philadelphia offers two $1,500 scholarships each year. The scholarships honor two distinguished Traffic Club members, Robert B. Einhorn and Francis X. Yetman. The scholarships are awarded at the Annual Dinner in January and are funded by The Traffic Club membership in conjunction with the annual dinner proceeds.

Traffic Club members, their children, grandchildren, or foster children are eligible for the scholarships. Applicants must be enrolled in a school of higher learning beyond high school. Scholarship applicants must submit a completed application, academic grades, and an essay on the designated transportation topic.

Alan R. Langley Scholarships:

In loving memory of Alan R. Langley, two scholarships of $1,000 each are available for students who are attending or plan to attend a school of higher learning this fall. These scholarships are made possible through the generosity of Nancy Langley of Langley Traffic Services. The awards are presented each year at the National Transportation Week Luncheon in May.


The scholarships are open to all candidates who have shown the talent to be a good student and better
citizen. Applicants must prepare a letter of candidacy and complete an application form containing contact information, academic status (e.g., name of institution, number of years enrolled in program, and curriculum major), financial need, and most recent grades.

The William J. Tucker Scholarship Award:

Through the generosity of the Tucker Company, the William J. Tucker Annual Scholarship Award has been created in the amount of $1,000. The scholarship honors Bill Tucker's career and his dedication to, and passion for, the transportation industry.

The Tucker Scholarship is available on a competitive basis to students enrolled in a school of higher learning beyond high school. Members of all transportation organizations within the Delaware Valley, their children, grandchildren and/or individuals in their legal custody can apply. Applicants must submit a completed application, academic transcript, and an essay on the specified topic. The scholarship is presented to the winner at the National Transportation Week Luncheon.

The General Daniel Bray Scholarships:

Through the generosity of Richard Bray of Seneca Freight Lines there are two General Daniel Bray Annual Scholarships, each in the amount of $1,000. General Bray, Mr. Bray’s ancestor, was a Revolutionary War hero who helped General George Washington and his troops with their historic crossing of the Delaware River on their way to Trenton in 1776.

The Bray Scholarships are available to students who are enrolled or plan to enroll in a school of higher learning beyond high school this upcoming fall. This scholarship is open to any individual with the proven drive and performance shown in high school to be applied to their collegiate career. Members of all transportation organizations within the Delaware Valley, their children, grandchildren and/or individuals in their legal custody are encouraged to apply.


The Applicants must submit a letter of introduction, completed application, and academic transcript. The Bray Scholarship is presented to the winner at the National Transportation Week Luncheon.
