You are invited to attend our 20th Mega-Meeting entitled “The Music of the Supply Chain in the Delaware Valley”, a Transportation oriented panel discussion to discuss maritime, road (truck), and infrastructure within the local area. It is sponsored by these five professional Supply Chain organizations.
The Music of the Supply Chain in the Delaware Valley
Supply Chains are a little like Music. They run to a rhythm. You might call it a beat, they have a daily routine, & a yearly cycle that they run through; where the content changes but the patterns, rhythms are very similar.
You can have a highly structured, top down approach, like an orchestra controlled by a conductor, under a strict set of predefined rules. But then there is jazz, in which musicians follow the same basic melody & tempo, but can improvise within that framework to deliver a better total result--or there is country music embracing many different styles all rooted in a rural folk tradition.
Within supply chain each musician (function) makes their own individual contribution to the effort – but it’s the sum of the parts that are greater than the whole – when each adds value – that music or harmony is achieved. So should our supply chains be more like an orchestra or jazz or country music or ???.

Keynote Speakers:
Sean E. Mahoney is Director of Marketing for PhilaPort, The Port of Philadelphia. -- An independent agency of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania charged with management, maintenance, marketing and promotion of publically owned port facilities along the Delaware River. He has held various positions before becoming Director in April of 2000. He is a member of numerous international associations and boards having been active in the maritime community since 1987.
Topic: “Building for a Better Supply Chain: The Port of Philadelphia”— Supply chains are dependent on the developmentof ports, shipyards, and maritime-related enterprises as trade engines that contribute to growth and regional development.
Jeff Tucker is third generation CEO of Tucker Company Worldwide, America’s oldest privately held freight brokerage. Jeff is immediate past chairman of the board for the Transportation Intermediaries Association (“TIA”). Jeff is a member of the NITL board - the largest shipper organization - and chairs its Highway Transportation Committee. He has co-authored TIA’s “Carrier Selection Framework” and his commentaries have appeared in Journal of Commerce, Logistics Management, and other publications.
Topic: “Navigating the Capacity Crisis of this Generation” – What we can expect the trucking landscape to look like in the future? Discuss the contributing factors of the current capacity crisis and the effect it is having on the entire marketplace.
John Ward is Deputy Executive Director of DVRPC. The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission is the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization for a diverse nine-county region in two states: Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia in Pennsylvania; and Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Mercer in New Jersey. Mr. Ward is responsible for the oversight & guidance of Planning and Transportation programs and provides guidance on Commission policy formulation & partner coordination.
